Town suspends traditional prayer at meeting (OneNewsNow.com)

FRANKLIN, VT – For years, the Vermont town of Franklin near the Canadian border has started its town meetings with prayer, but a lawsuit has stopped that from happening this year.

Vermont Public Radio reports that Franklin resident Marilyn Hackett had asked the town for years to stop inviting a local pastor to offer a Christian prayer at the start of the meeting. She sued the town and its moderator to stop the practice after last year’s meeting.

British Pakistani Christian Association: Christian teacher accused of blasphemy in Lahore

On 23rd February 2012, A mob stormed the school where Saira Khokhar teaches in an attempt to abduct her after she was accused of burning a copy of the Qur’an.

Little is known of the affair, but police had to take the woman into custody even though no formal charges have yet been laid. Paul Bhatti and other Christian activists have come to her defence.
